# How do dashboards from a question work?

> You type a business question, and Emolysis builds a tested gold table behind it and picks charts for you to review before you publish a link.

You type a business question, such as monthly revenue by region for the last year. Emolysis finds the source tables in your catalog and proposes a semantic model of the measures and dimensions involved. It answers at once with a draft dashboard: charts that fit the question, drawn from illustrative rows generated from those definitions.

It then checks each chart against the tables in your lakehouse, links the [Aggregation / gold](https://emolysis.com/shapes/aggregation-gold) template and builds the gold table, tested like any other pipeline. Once the gold table is tested and deployed, the charts show its rows. You review the dashboard, change what you want, and publish it as a link when you are ready.

The [sample dashboard](https://emolysis.com/d/sample) on this site shows the kind of charts it draws, using synthetic data. Read the [BI page](https://emolysis.com/bi), the docs on [dashboards from a question](https://emolysis.com/docs/dashboards) and the post [dashboards from a question](https://emolysis.com/news/dashboards-from-a-question).
