# How does Emolysis work with GitHub?

> Your pipelines live in your own repository, and checks on each pull request, from emo check in your CI or the planned GitHub App, are the gate for every deploy.

Your pipelines live in your own repository as a plain project. `emo init` creates the layout: `models/`, `pipelines/`, `tests/` and an `emolysis.yml` that names the platform. `emo sync` and `emo pr`, to commit and push or open a pull request, are planned.

`emo check` in your CI checks each pull request with lint, golden tests and a cost estimate. The [GitHub App](https://emolysis.com/integrations/github), which also links a preview dashboard, is planned. Green checks become your deploy gate.

You can use Emolysis without GitHub too; these are conveniences, not requirements. Credentials never go into the repository. See the [GitHub checks docs](https://emolysis.com/docs/github-checks) and the [tutorial preview](https://emolysis.com/tutorials/pull-request-checks).
