# Is Emolysis open source?

> The core is closed source, while the template format and the setup configs for editors and coding agents are public under the MIT license.

The core is not. The engine, the desktop app, the platform profiles and the library of tested templates are closed source.

Some parts are public under the MIT license: the template format and its validator (emolysis/template-sdk) and the setup configs for editors and coding agents that support MCP (emolysis/integrations). Runnable sample projects on GitHub, each showing one concrete job end to end with synthetic data, are planned.

The Emolysis name and logo are not covered by the MIT license; the [press kit](https://emolysis.com/press-kit) says how they may be used. Templates you write for your own use are yours. See [can I write my own templates](https://emolysis.com/faq/can-i-write-my-own-templates) and the [templates and slots docs](https://emolysis.com/docs/templates).
