04/How model usage works
Your key or included usage
Your own key, or included usage.
Every plan works with a key from the model provider you choose. Pro, Max and Team include model usage, so you do not need one.
A
Bring your own key
Add a key from the model provider you choose. The agent sends its requests to that provider under your key, and the provider bills you at its own rates. Emolysis adds nothing to that bill. Every plan accepts your own key, and requests made with it do not count against your plan's limits.
B
Included model usage
Pro, Max and Team include model usage, so you do not need a key. It is measured by the work the agent does, not by a fixed message count: long sessions, large schemas and complex pipelines use more. Pro sets the baseline, Max gives 5x or 20x, and limits apply to each person.
C
When you reach a limit
You have four options: wait for the limit to reset, switch the agent to your own key, move to a plan with more included usage, or turn on usage credits. Your projects, templates, local data and dashboards stay available; only included model usage pauses.
D
Usage credits
Past a limit, credits keep the agent working at standard metered rates, until you turn them off or reach a spend limit you set. Enterprise works this way from the first request: no included allowance and no per-seat limits, or the organization's own key.
Data handling
Prompts go to the model provider you choose.
To write code, the agent sends prompts to the AI model provider you choose. A prompt can include table and column names, schemas and sample values from your data.
With your own model key, prompts go to that provider under your key and its terms. With a paid plan’s included usage or usage credits (on Enterprise, metered usage), prompts and responses pass through Emolysis’s metering service on the way to the model provider. That service is designed not to store or log their content; it records token counts for billing.
A dashboard leaves your machine when you publish it, and only then. What leaves your machine is the same on every plan.

05/Pricing questions
15 answers
Pricing, answered.
Keys, limits, seats and billing. Questions about the product itself are in the FAQ.
01What does "bring your own model key" mean?
On the Free plan, Emolysis does not include any model usage. You add an API key from the model provider you choose, and the agent sends its requests to that provider under your key. The provider bills you directly for what you use, at its own rates. Emolysis charges nothing for the Free plan and adds nothing to your provider's bill. The key is kept in your machine's credential store, and you can change or remove it at any time. Every paid plan accepts your own key too.
02What does the Free plan cost me?
Emolysis charges nothing for the Free plan, and you do not need a credit card to start. You may still have two costs, both billed by other companies. Your model provider bills you for the requests the agent makes with your key. Your data platform bills you for the compute your deployed pipelines use, as it does today. Iterating on a pipeline runs on DuckDB on your machine, so most development work does not add to your platform bill.
03What leaves my machine when the agent works?
To write code, the agent sends prompts to the AI model provider you choose. A prompt can include table and column names, schemas and sample values from your data. With your own model key, prompts go to that provider under your key and its terms. With a paid plan's included usage or usage credits (on Enterprise, metered usage), prompts and responses pass through Emolysis's metering service on the way to the model provider. That service is designed not to store or log their content; it records token counts for billing. A dashboard leaves your machine when you publish it, and only then. This is the same on every plan.
04Can I use my own key on a paid plan?
Yes. Every plan accepts your own model key. On Pro, Max and Team, you choose whether the agent uses your key or the plan's included model usage. Requests made with your own key are billed by your provider and do not count against your plan's limits. That makes a paid plan worth it for the features alone: all platform connectors, the full template library with updates, shared dashboards and the planned pull request checks. On Enterprise, admins can set one organization key for every member.
05How do usage limits work on paid plans?
Included model usage is measured by the work the agent does, not by a fixed message count. Long sessions, large schemas and complex pipelines use more. Pro sets the baseline. Max gives you 5x or 20x more usage than Pro. A Team standard seat gives more usage than Pro, and a premium seat gives 5x more than a standard seat. Limits apply to each person, so one heavy user does not reduce what teammates have. Exact allowances are set before paid plans open.
06What happens when I reach a usage limit?
You have four options. Wait for the limit to reset. Switch the agent to your own model key and keep working, billed by your provider. Move to a plan with more included usage. Or turn on usage credits, which continue the work at standard metered rates until you turn them off or reach a spend limit you set. Your projects, templates, local data and dashboards stay available; only included model usage pauses.
07What are usage credits?
Usage credits let the agent keep working after you reach your plan's included usage. Work past the limit is billed at standard metered rates, so you pay for what you use. You turn credits on, and they stop when you turn them off or reach the spend limit you set. They are available on Pro, Max and Team. Enterprise has no included allowance: all of its usage is metered the same way, unless the organization uses its own key.
08How is Max different from Pro?
Max is for people who build pipelines and dashboards with the agent all day. It includes everything in Pro, plus 5x or 20x more included model usage than Pro, priority access to that usage at busy times, and early access to new templates and platform connectors. Max 5x costs $100 per month and Max 20x $200 per month, both billed monthly. If you run most of your work on your own model key, Pro is likely enough.
09How do Team seats work?
The Team plan is for teams of 2 to 150 people. Each member takes a seat, and you can mix two seat types. A standard seat costs $25 per month, or $20 per month billed annually, and includes more model usage than Pro. A premium seat costs $125 per month, or $100 per month billed annually, with 5x the usage of a standard seat. Team adds a shared catalog, an org workspace, audit export and single sign-on (all planned). You can add seats at any time.
10How does Enterprise pricing work?
Enterprise costs US$20 per seat per month, billed annually, plus model usage at standard metered rates. The seat fee covers every Team feature and the Enterprise additions but includes no model usage, so cost scales with the work you run. Admins set spend limits for the organization and for each user, or bring the organization's own model key instead. Self-serve Enterprise starts at 20 seats and sales-assisted Enterprise at 50 seats, with invoicing available on sales-assisted plans.
11Can I pay annually, and does it cost less?
Yes, for Pro and Team. Pro costs $20 per month billed monthly, or $200 billed once a year, which works out to about $17 per month. On annual billing, Team standard seats drop from $25 to $20 per month, and premium seats from $125 to $100 per month. Max is billed monthly only, and Enterprise annually only. If you switch from monthly to annual, unused time on your monthly plan is credited toward your first annual invoice.
12Can I change or cancel a plan later?
Yes, once paid plans open. Upgrades take effect right away, and unused time on your current plan is credited toward the new one, so you do not pay twice for the same days. Downgrades take effect at the end of the billing period. You can cancel at any time, and your plan stays active until that period ends. Your projects and templates are yours whichever plan you are on.
13Does Emolysis charge for my platform's compute?
No. Emolysis does not bill you for compute on Databricks, Snowflake or Microsoft Fabric. Deploys and production runs use your platform's compute and appear on your platform's bill, as they do today. Sampling reads a slice of your data once; after that, iterating runs on DuckDB on your machine and is designed not to use cluster hours. emo check reports what drives the cost: the platform's unit, the compute and the runs per 30 days. Hosted runs for small jobs are planned for Enterprise.
14Do prices include tax?
No. Prices are in US dollars and do not include applicable tax, such as VAT or sales tax, which is added where it applies. The plan cards and the comparison table show the same prices before tax.
15Are these prices final, and when can I buy a plan?
Not yet. Emolysis is in private development and nothing is released, so no plan can be bought today. These are the prices we plan to launch with. They may change before launch, and any change shows on this page first. Allowances for included model usage are set before paid plans open. When they open, the Free plan stays free with your own model key. Early access is by invitation while we build.
